Methods Knowledge Base
- The Research Methods Knowledge Base is a
comprehensive web-based textbook that addresses all of the topics in a
typical introductory undergraduate or graduate course in social research
methods. It also addresses the major theoretical and philosophical
underpinnings of research.
This
is not the statistics you probably studied in college. Here the
focus is on causality -- not just on the numbers.
Specifically, the focus is on arguments about causality based on
observational studies: the data most common in business, economics,
sociology, epidemiology and history. Although "association
doesn't prove causation," the decision-related question is how
much support do statistics give a causal argument. This site
addresses that question.
